The Best Glamping Experience near Edinburgh?

Glamping is a new trend in tourism, a combination of glamor and camping, a sort of take it easy camping with a compromise for all who want to relax in luxurious conditions, staying close to and experiencing nature.

It certainly is different from what we are used to when going out camping so without further ado let’s get to it.

The owners of Glampotel Dundas Castle created 9 beautiful, eco-friendly Canvas Cottages for those who love to be in touch with nature and want to enjoy it without the need to give up the comfortable conditions and getting far away from the city centers.

You will find ensuite tent rooms that are characterized by a unique atmosphere with amazing views over the Castle’s Loch from the comfort of your own bed. All of that just 15-minute drive from Edinburgh International Airport!

What To Expect

Glampotel offers visitors everything that easily beats camping. Instead of inflatable mattresses and sleeping bags in tents, there are comfortable beds, drawers blankest, teas and coffee and other elements of your comfortable hotel stay rather than rough and raw camping experience.

The facilities are designed to keep guests cool on hot days, but also (thanks to the wood-burning stove) heat during cold evenings.

Undoubtedly, the surrounding views of Castle’s Loch from the tent have become the greatest asset of the complex, also swarming with ducks, swans, and herons and amazingly encompassed by a steep cliff with many beautiful blooming rhododendrons and trees on its side.

Surrounding this beautiful scenery, luxury apartments were created for guests eager for unusual adventures.

Canvas cottages are not only made for relaxing, but there’s also the possibility of watching wildlife even without the need to go outside.

You are luckily provided with binoculars, which can be found in each of the apartments.

It would make an unforgettable adventure for kids which stay for free at Glampotel Dundas Castle.

What To Take

Even though glamping has it own benefits you still need to prepare accordingly an pack all the important things.

Most importantly make sure to take some warm clothes with as Scottish evening might get chilly sometimes and patio heater is sometimes not enough to keep you warm.

Keep in mind you will be also providing your own food because there will be no shops or restaurants close by.

Our Experience

We had a chance to stay at the Glampotel only for one night and I can assure you it’s really not enough.

We felt like the time went by too quick and if we could we would love to stay at least two more days to relax and enjoy our stay a little bit more.

We really loved the romantic wood burning stove which provided a great atmosphere and warmth, and with the help of comfy warm beds, blankets and throws we stayed warm all through the night.

Outside we had our large private wooden deck, a gas powered BBQ and patio heater, a sink and a dining set with comfy chairs for eating, relaxing and just admiring the beautiful natural surroundings that we could not get enough of.

Our stay included a breakfast hamper which we prepared ourselves and enjoyed piping hot from the grill. Amazing!

We definitely got addicted to grilling everything during our stay, how can you say no to the neverending BBQ.

We were also surprised to find the USB charging facilities, solar-powered lights, shower with hot water.

All this made us sometimes forget that you are still actually in a tent but in a good way, I was a definitely different approach to camping that we never experienced before and would recommend it to anybody for some unforgettable time.

Disclosure: This is a commissioned post for Glamphotel Dundas Castle. We have been offered a free overnight stay for the porpouse of this review. As always all views and opinions expressed are our own.
